The saw palmetto (Serenoa Repens) plant can be commonly seen growing naturally in the wild anywhere in the southern USA starting from Louisiana and Florida in the south, and as far north as South Carolina. The plant itself looks a lot like a palm tree leaf you would see on an island. The distinction from other palms is when you look closely at the leaves, you can see sharp saw like teeth. Hence its name saw palmetto. Saw for the saw like teeth on the individual leaves, and palm for the basic design of the leaf mimicking a normal palm tree’s leaf. But the true importance of this plant as a natural remedy for BPH is the berries. From the berries we get the extract, and from the extract the actual medicine.
